Registration and Distribution
Since I waited until the age of 72 to start programming I
am told I should call my program "Codgerware" instead of
Shareware. At any rate, for quite some time now, during
an experimental period, I allowed the "A" or short version
to be considered "Freeware". Now, I consider the program
a complete, useful utility and cannot treat it so lightly.
Besides, your Social Security Tax will probably rise if I
don't start getting some returns for all my investments in
the program.
You are welcome to use this all-new version of KWIKLABL for
reasonable length of time (30 days?) but if you continue to
use it and enjoy it, then I would expect you to register.
I'm sure you'll want to register and receive all the added
benefits of the registered versions. These valuable added
benefits include many more attractive borders, a capability of
maintaining a address list database, a custom border database,
a monthly planning calendar program, a program for making
your own Zipcode barcode labels, printing of any PrintMaster,
Print Shop or NEW Print Shop graphics on labels, and for those
responsible for mass mailings, a mailing list database. More
details are included at the end of this documentation.
You are encouraged to give copies of this program to your
friends or to upload it to any networks or BBS's. Just make
sure that all files are included with the .EXE program when
you distribute it.

This program was written using Microsoft BASIC PDS 7.1 and
uses some of R.Magnanti's WINDOWS R-E-Z routines.
* * MOUSE COMPATIBILITY * *
New in this version is incorporation of Mouse control in its
simplest form. Only the left button is used (single-click)
and there is no dragging, etc... If there are no <Buttons>
on a menu, you can select a menu item by clicking on it. This
includes selection of graphics. The mouse is not used on
multiple MARK lists, nor is it used in Border Design. Other
than that, it can be used throughout the program. If you don't
use a mouse, operation is pretty much as it has been, except
where there are buttons, you must use the TAB key to select.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION
KWIKLABL has always been a little different from other
labelling programs in that most of them stress the regular
mailing label while KWIKLABL uses the graphic capabilities of
the Epson compatable dot matrix printer to make attractive,
small return address labels for the upper left corner of the
envelope. KWIKLABL has always printed two side-by-side on a
one inch by three and a half inch label with a variety of
borders that make them stand out. KWIKLABL will now make
the regular labels with a choice of fonts for special effects
and a choice of any Printmaster,Print Shop or New Print Shop
graphic printed on the labels. Several new capabilities have
recently been added. There is now the capability of printing
any address or return address directly on the envelope plus
the entire envelope can be printed at one time. You also
now have the capability to design your own custom borders.
NEW!! The capability of adding any PrintMaster or Print
Shop graphic to your labels plus a mailing list capable of
printing mailing labels from a complete list fast.. The
capability of selecting different fonts for each line of text
in regular labels plus the capability of starting the text
anywhere on the line. Much faster graphics presentation
both to screen and printer. Viewing of all graphics..
NEW IN THIS VERSION! View and print NEW Print Shop graphics
in registered Version 4.5/B. Selecting Ink-jet/Laser on the
setup menu does not mean that KWIKLABL has drivers for all
Ink-Jet or Laser printers. It merely means that if your
Ink-Jet or Laser printer accepts and operates with the Epson
ESC type commands then you will have proper print spacing for
two of the most popular sizes of Ink-Jet/Laser type sheet
labels(1" x 4' and 1 1/2" x 4"). Both come two across on
an 8 1/2" by 11" sheet. You can print one side and then turn
the sheet over and print the other side. A surprising number
of these advanced printers operate well with KWIKLABL with
either a simple mode adjustment or no changes at all.
---------------------------------------
REQUIREMENTS
IBMPC or compatible * 9 or 24 pin Dot matrix, Ink-Jet or Laser
printer compatible with the Epson ESC type commands * at least
MS-DOS 3.3 or later and will probably work with any version but
have not tried earlier versions. Memory requirement is minimal.
INSTALLATION
By the time you read this, you have probably unpacked the files
into a sub-directory of your choice on your hard disk..like
C:\KWIKLABL>... Now, to start the program, just type "KWIKLABL"
at the DOS prompt and press ENTER:
C:\KWIKLABL\>KWIKLABL (press ENTER)
Now use the simple menus to make the labels you want...
